How to create 3D characters

You can also create 3D characters using special computer software, as in the case of the excellentMakeHuman. It is a renowned program for the 3D moderation of human figures capable of returning very realistic results. It is totally free, open source in nature and works on both Windows and Mac (as well as on Linux). Unlike the above resources, however, it does not support the use of photographs so the model must be created from scratch, with the tools available that are far from being few.

To use it, first download the software on your computer by connecting to the wingthe page is downloaded of the same and clicking on the buttonDownload MakeHuman which is high up. Then select the link for the operating system in use on your computer and wait a few moments for the download to start and complete.

Now, if what you are using is a Windows PC, extract the ZIP archive you just obtained from any location on your PC and start the .exe file contained within it.

If you are using a Mac instead, open the package in .dmg format obtained and drag the program icon to the folderApplications of macOS. Then right click on it and chooseYou open for two consecutive times in order to start MakeHuman going to circumvent the limitations imposed by Apple against unauthorized developers.

Subsequently, regardless of the operating system used, start the program and in the window you will see appear on the desktop, press onYes and then onOK and start having fun with the creation of the character by selecting the elements on which to intervene via the tabs at the top and which features to customize with the commands on the left. You can define the gender, the musculature, the color of the skin, age and much more.

The buttons in the toolbar at the top allow you to look at the character from various angles, to take screenshots and to undo or redo the changes as well as to look at the internal structure of the model.

Then when you have finished your creation, click on the button withthe floppy disk and the arrow which is at the top right to export in a format of your choice among the various supported (even .obj) the generated 3D character. If you want to save the project and continue editing it later, click on the button with thefloppy disk which always knows at the top right and indicates the destination location on your computer.
